Our trip starts in busy and bustling Saigon. We visit its key historic sites including Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and the fascinating Notre Dame Cathedral. We then try to explore the stronghold of Cu Chi tunnel, crawling through tiny path to experience a guerrilla life. Heading to Da Nang, we enjoy a trip to the Marble Mountain and the Son Tra Peninsular. In Hoi An we visit Cham islands, visit a marine protected island to enjoy a snorkeling and to discover colorful coral reefs. We also visit the ancient town of Hoi An to see its highlights before heading to Hanoi. The capital city will enrich your experiences with its historic sites, busy shopping streets and cultural places. Finally, we take a cruise boat in the spectacular Halong Bay, where the Limestone Mountains and caves combine to make up one of the world’s most stunning landscapes.

Day 1: Arriving in Ho Chi Minh City from Australia

Your flight lands in Saigon international airport, 10 kms from the city centre. Our car will pick you up and transfer to the hotel in the CBD (District 1). Once you have checked in, a short introductory meeting will take place to welcome you, and inform of useful itinerary, advice, preparations etc. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City (Breakfast, lunch)

In the morning, we start our city tour by visiting the War Remnants Museum to discover one chapter of the city, then head to Reunification Palace close by. Take a walk around Ben Thanh Market, Notre Dame Cathedral and the central Post Office. We will explore the shops, coffee places, local cuisines and restaurants in the central areas. Then our car and guide will take you back to the hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 3: Cu Chi Tunnels (Breakfast, lunch)

In the morning we leave Ho Chi Minh City for the Cu Chi tunnels, otherwise known as the "Iron Land". On our way there we drive through pleasant countryside; rubber plantations and rice paddies. Before entering the tunnels, we will see a short introductory video showing how they were constructed, followed by an exploration of the maze of tunnels, some of which have been widened to allow tourist access. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500lb bombs dropped by B52 bombers. In the late afternoon we will drive to the airport for a short flight to Da Nang City. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 4: Da Nang City (Breakfast, lunch)

We will pick up and visit the Marble Mountain, a cluster of five marble mountains lying close to the sea. It is so famous that many people consider it as the symbol of the area. Cultural and historical vestiges of the Marble Mountains are still on every pagoda and tower of the early 19th century and on Champa sculptures of the 14th and 15th century. Then we will go to Cham Museum to see a collection of remnants from the golden Champa era. Our journey continues to the Son Tra peninsula, which overlooks the whole city of Da Nang. Late in the afternoon, we will transfer to Hoi An City. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 5: Hoi An Village Visit (Breakfast, lunch)

We have a half day bicycle tour to visit rural villages which once provided services and goods to merchants in Hoi An ancient town. Get relaxed while biking along the ever green, small lanes full of vegetables, flowers, water buffaloes. Do what a farmer does for a living. Then having a lunch in a local farmer will be the highlight. In the afternoon, we will explore the town itself including its unique architecture, lifestyle, night markets, ancient houses which have been preserved for years. Late in the afternoon, have a great swim in the Cua Dai beach with your kids. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 6: Cham Island Snorkelling (Breakfast, lunch)

Today we will take a shared boat tour to explore Cham Island, a group of small islets just some kms to the East of Hoi An Town. Explore local way of life on one of the most densely populated island in Vietnam. Visit a marine protected centre supported by Danida, a pagoda built some hundred years ago used by fishermen for worship prior to their fishing trip in the sea. Then do some snorkeling before enjoying seafood lunch on Huong beach, the most beautiful hidden beach in the Island. Get back and free in the evening to explore the unique lifestyles of local inhabitants at night. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 7: Hoi An-Danang – Hanoi (Breakfast)

We will have a great visit to a local primary school which is having an excellent educational program on environmental protection. Your kids will learn and share ideas on how to help Hoi An become a green destination. Local kids will also learn and exchange opinions with your kids.

After lunch by yourself, we will transfer you to Da Nang airport to take a flight to Hanoi. Check in our hotel in the Old Quarters. In the evening enjoy a performance of Hanoi’s famous Water Puppet Show - kids and parents will be equally delighted! Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 8: Hanoi City Tour (Breakfast, lunch)

We will visit ancient pagodas in Hanoi (Tran Vu and Tran Quoc, which were built thousands of years ago to guard Hanoi) to learn about Buddhism. These two pagodas are popular among Hanoi people, as they come to wish for good luck, happiness and success. Then we will visit the Temple of Literature originally built as a temple of Confucius. This is the site of the Vietnam first university dating back to 1070. The Temple highlights the importance of education. Have PHO, the best street food of Hanoi. In the afternoon, we have a walking tour of the Old Quarter streets to explore the bustling shops and trading activities. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 9: Halong Bay (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Take a four hour drive to Halong Bay before boarding on our cruise boat. We will cruise through remarkable limestone formations of Halong Bay. We have the opportunities to enjoy a swim, visits to stunningly beautiful grottos and do some kayaking. A range of social activities onboard including movie show, singing, or relax and enjoy some cooking demonstrations. Overnight on the cruise boat will be a memorable experience for your family. Overnight in a Cruise.

Day 10: Halong Bay-Hanoi (Breakfast, lunch)

In the morning, enjoy some guided Tai Chi exercise on the sundeck. We continue sightseeing and cruising around Halong Bay, before enjoying the delicious lunch with seafood onboard the cruise boat. Enjoy the spectacular scenery, crystal clear water and stunning rock formations before turning to the harbor and driving back to Hanoi. Overnight in a family budget hotel.

Day 11: Hanoi (Breakfast)

Hanoi is the heart of Vietnam, full of interesting activities. Enjoy some coffee and walk along the Old Quarters. Get your names carved in a wooden stamp or take great photos of the bustling streets. Do some shopping in Dong Xuan Market or along the 36 old streets. In the afternoon, start to pack things up and explore local street food. In the early evening, we will have a small party to celebrate our Vietnam family trip before transferring to Noi Bai airport for the flight home.
