Day 01: Arrival Hanoi (Dinner)

Your connecting flight from Australia lands at Noi Bai International airport in Hanoi, capital city of Vietnam. Upon arrival, our guide will transfer directly to hotel in Hanoi City to check in. We will have a short introduction to our country including travel tips, useful advice covering food, culture, safety, traffic...In the afternoon, enjoy a walk to visit some of Hanoi’s main attractions: the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. Enjoy a buffet dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi

 

Day 02: Hanoi City Tour (Breakfast, lunch)

With its wide tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and ancient oriental pagodas, Hanoi is an eclectic mix that offers something for everyone. We will visit Hanoi’s key sites: the Ho Chi Minh Complex (Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and stilt house); the Presidential Palace; the nearby One Pillar Pagoda. Then we will visit the Temple of Literature. Have lunch. We will continue to the West of Hanoi, visiting Tran Quoc Pagoda & Quan Thanh Temple. In the late afternoon,  enjoy a traditional Water Puppet Performance – a unique Vietnamese art form. Overnight in Hanoi

 

Day 03: Hanoi – Mai Chau Ethnic Minorities (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

This easy trekking trip to the northwest highlands of Mai Chau offers a balance of cultural interest and easy physical activity, set amongst some of northern Vietnam’s most stunning scenery. Enjoy picturesque views of the scenic landscape, sown with pagodas and rural villages. Stop along the way to visit the Muong tribe and then at Thung Khe Pass for a spectacular view of Mai Chau Valley. Have lunch in Mai Chau then spend the afternoon trekking off the typical tourist track, along the Song Ma River. Trek through terraced rice paddies and small villages, discovering the natural beauty of the valley and encountering the culture of the White Thai people, living in the region. Stop at a Thai village for the night, having dinner with a local family and enjoying a homestay in their long house. Overnight in Mai Chau.

 

Day 04 : Mai Chau – Hanoi (Breakfast, lunch)

Start the day with a simple breakfast with your host family then take a short drive through the surrounding countryside, before setting off on a trek through rice paddies and down winding lanes to visit the “Cum” and “Xam Khoe” villages. Immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture and enjoy an authentic lunch at one of the villages. In the afternoon, we will drive back to the bustling Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

 

Day 05 : Hanoi – Halong Bay Cruise (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

A shared shuttle bus will pick you up and start a 4 hour drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site: Halong Bay. Arrive at the dock around noon and board your junk. Have a gourmet lunch of fresh seafood onboard as we sail out into the mystical bay. In the afternoon, cruise around some of Halong’s many islands, including Dinh Huong and Ga Choi. Along the way visit one of the bay’s 3 largest caves (Thien Cung, Dau Go or Sung Sot). Stop at an island cove with a sheltered white-sand beach and take a dip in the warm waters of the Gulf of Tonkin (weather permitting). Overnight on Cruise.

 

Day 06 :Halong Bay Cruise – Hanoi – Fly to Hue (Breakfast, lunch)

Get up early and participate in Tai Chi exercise on the top deck or simply relax and enjoy the sunrise over the bay’s towering islands. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea, before setting out to explore nearby islands by rowboat. Return to the junk for breakfast then take advantage of the sundeck and admire the amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay as you navigate back to Halong City. The shared bus will drive back to the hotel before our private car and guide pick you up and transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue. Upon arrival in Hue airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Hue City. Overnight in Hue.

 

Day 07: Hue Cultural Complex (Breakfast, lunch)

Enjoy an entire day touring the Vietnam’s former ancient capital. Start the day with a visit to the Imperial Citadel, home to the Imperial City and Forbidden Purple City – once the Emperor’s private residence. The Imperial City was created in the 19th century and modeled on the Forbidden City in Beijing. The Imperial Enclosure houses many palaces and temples within its walls. In the afternoon, continue on your tour stopping at the Imperial Museum, Tu Hieu Pagoda and vibrant Dong Ba riverside market. Overnight in Hue.

 

Day 08: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An Ancient Town (Breakfast, lunch)

Spend the morning on a private boat cruise down the romantic Perfume River to visit the iconic Lady Pagoda (Thien Mu Pagoda), an elegant seven-tiered octagonal tower that has become Hue’s most widely recognizable monument, and the ornate Minh Mang’s tomb. Have lunch at a riverside restaurant before starting on your drive to Hoi An. Pass over the 500m-high Hai Van pass and stop en route in Da Nang for a visit to the Cham Museum and handicraft villages at the foot of Marble Mountain. Arrive in the sleepy riverside town, Hoi An. In the late afternoon, check in at the hotel and then enjoy the rest of the evening free at your leisure. Overnight in Hoi An.

 

Day 09: Hoi An Cooking Class (Breakfast, lunch)

This morning we will take part in a cooking class at the Red Bridge Cooking School. Meet at the Hai Scout Cafe in Hoi An’s Old Town. From there we will head to Hoi An’s colorful market. Explore the market and interact with local vendors to purchase some fresh ingredients for today’s cooking class. Next, board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely 25min cruise along the Hoi An River to the Red Bridge Cooking School. Discover the school’s herb and vegetable garden. Learn to cook and help prepare five traditional dishes to enjoy for lunch. You will also be entertained and taught some special techniques at the fruit and vegetable carving demonstration. Free in the late afternoon. Overnight in Hoi An. 

 

Day 10: Hoi An Rural Villages (Breakfast, lunch)

We will have a half day bike tour to visit rural village of Tra Que which once provided services and goods to merchants in Hoi An ancient town. Get relaxed while biking along the ever green, small lanes full of vegetables, flowers, water buffalos. Try to follow dirt preparation techniques and plant vegetable, herbs by yourself. Lunch in a local farmer house will be the highlight. In the afternoon, we will have a walking tour to visit Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky Old hose, Phuc Kien Pagoda, Cham Museum and Chinese Assembly Hall. All these places symbolize the golden days of this ancient city.

 

Day 11: Hoi An – Nha Trang Beach (Breakfast, lunch)

After breakfast, we will transfer you to Da Aang Airport for a short flight to Nha Trang, the beach city. Transfer to the hotel before we have lunch. In the afternoon, we will explore key attractions in Nha Trang by having a half day city tour. Our places to visit include the Dam Market, Cham Tower, Stone Cathedral, etc. Then in the late afteroon, free to have a great swim in Nha Trang, one of our best beaches. Overnight in Nha Trang.

 

Day 12: Nha Trang – Da Lat Flower City (Breakfast, lunch)

This morning, we will drive up hills to Da Lat City, with a stopover at rural villages on our way out for a peek of what countryside living in Vietnam is all about. You will reach the mountain town of Da Lat, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” (like Toowoomba town in Queensland, Australia). We will visit the former summer residence of Bao Dai – the last Emperor of Vietnam, the old Da Lat Railway Station, the Central Market and famous XQ embroidery workshop. Then we will have a short walk around Xuan Huong Lake to get a feel for this delightful city in the evening. Overnight in Da Lat. 

 

Day 13: Da Lat Cultural Exploration – Ho Chi Minh City (Breakfast, lunch)

After breakfast, visit Thien Vien Truc Lam – the largest Zen Monastery of Vietnam. Then take the steps down toward the Tuyen Lam Lake, enjoy sightseeing of the nicest vast lake of Da Lat on boat. On the way back to the city for lunch, visit Lat village, home to a number of distinct ethnic minority groups with varying traditions and beliefs. Here you have the chance to purchase traditional handicrafts and gain a unique insight. Transfer to Lien Khuong Airport for onward flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 14: Ho Chi Minh City Tour (Breakfast, lunch)

Enjoy a full day to tour Saigon’s diverse attractions. Start with a visit to Saigon’s China Town, then learn about traditional Vietnamese medicine at the FITO Museum and browse through the amazing array of goods at Ben Thanh Market. Stop for lunch then continue on the city tour with a visit to the War Remnants Museum and former Presidential Palace. Conclude the day exploring the city’s French colonial architecture, stopping at the Notre Dame Cathedral and the City’s Post Office. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 15: Cao Dai Temple– Cu Chi Tunnels (Breakfast, lunch)

Today we will travel outside of Saigon to visit the beautiful Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh province and partake in the noontime prayer service. This large and colorful compound is home to the hybrid religion founded in the 1920s: Caodaism, which combines elements of Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam. After lunch in a local restaurant, we will explore the famous historic Cu Chi Tunnels on the way back to the city. The tunnels are an underground labyrinth of passageways, used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War (or “American War” as it’s referred to here) as protection against American air raids. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 16: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong River Day Cruise (Breakfast, lunch)

Our tour guide and driver will meet you at lobby of hotel at 08:30AM and travel to the Mekong River Delta. Cruise along the river. Along the way, stop at a candy factory and orchard garden, where you have an opportunity to listen to traditional music. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a riverside restaurant, then cross the Mekong by motorized boat to visit some fluvial islands and explore the countryside by bicycle. Your driver and will meet you at Vinh Long jetty and take you to Can Tho City for the night. Overnight in Can Tho City, known as the capital city of the Mekong Delta. 

 

Day 17: Mekong Delta – Ho Chi Minh (Breakfast, lunch)

Wake up early and leave the hotel to visit the famous Cai Rang floating market by a motor boat. Continue the boat ride to visit the Mekong Delta’s famous orchards and sample the fresh, exotic fruit. Then venture deeper into the country side, passing traditional houses made of wood and palm leaves as you observe the activities of the local people. Return to Can Tho for lunch then drive back to Saigon, arriving in the late afternoon. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

 

Day 18: Ho Chi Minh Departure (Breakfast)

After breakfast, free for the day. In the evening, our driver and tour guide will pick you up at lobby of hotel and transfer to Ho Chi Minh International Airport for flight back to Australia. End of Tour.
