The trip makes a journey to the areas of Yen Bai, Sapa and the surrounding villages to explore a multi cultural Vietnam. It combines the cultural, adventurous and ecotourism aspects that will result in a memorable experience in the end. It visits a primary school where students learn basic skills and knowledge to live with flash floods and land slides in mountainous areas.

Vietnam historical records indicate that the dynasties of the Hung Kings were an impressive, brilliant and outstanding start for establishing Viet Nam as a sovereign nation. The 18 generations of the Hung Kings saw the birth and development of a nation and are credited with forging national characteristics such as the sense of community, mutual affection, patriotism and unwillingness to yield to oppression. From the original settlement in Phu Tho town, the Hong (Red) River civilization and the pre-Dong Son cultures grew rapidly. To the north of Phu Tho lies empires of minor ethnic tribes used to be allies with the empire of Hung Kings.

Day 1 : Hanoi – Phu Tho

We leave Hanoi at 7.AM, heading to Phu Tho town, 120kms in the northwest of Hanoi. We head to the museum of Hung Kings right at the foot of Nghia Linh Mountains. The museum displays hundreds of bronze drums unearthed in the surrounding areas; all dated back some thousands years ago. We listen to the legends of how the Empire was established and how the Vietnamese ethnic people were born into this land. After lunch, we head to several temples worshipping Hung Kings. The steps up the temple and the view along provide a unique photo show opportunity. 

Day 2 : Phu Tho – Yen Bai

Today we visit Vietnam’s first hydropower plant, and the reservoir of the plant which is among the largest man-made fresh water lakes in the country. Take a boat cruise and visit amazing caves along the lake. We reach the ecotourism village of Ngoi Tu and stay overnight in the area. The tour is a relaxing vacation to explore the natural habitats and traditional lifestyles of ethnic groups who depends their livelihoods on the water. A talk with a family of Nung, Cao Lan, Phu La will enrich your knowledge of a diverse or multicultural Vietnam.

Day 3 : Yen Bai – Sapa

We spend the morning visiting a project which supports primary school students funded by an international NGO. As Yen Bai has several streams and soil hills, flash floods and landslides do occur frequently in rainy seasons. The project creates opportunities for children and teachers to learn how to avoid unexpected disasters. We head to Sapa in the early afternoon.

Day 4: Sapa - Y Linh Ho - Lao Chai - Ta Van

7:30: After breakfast, we start walking 6 km down to the South East of Sapa alongside Muong Hoa valley to Y Linh Ho village, trek 2 km down to Lao Chai village; take picture of paddle field and visit minority house and school. Have picnic lunch in the Black H’Mong house, discover their daily life style and enjoy landscape.

13:00: Continue to trek to Ta Van village of Dzay minority people then back to Sapa by van. Arrive at Sapa at 15h30. Have a shower at hotel before exploring the town yourself. 

Day 5: Sapa - Hanoi

Our guide will take you to Cat Cat village; visit the French existing electric power station beside the Cat Cat waterfall. Get to know the way H’Mong villagers make their own clothes, grow rice and corn. See the show of minority people - traditional dance and singing. Come back to Sapa on foot. The afternoon is free for you to discover Sapa town. Chat with minority children in the market or do some shopping, take pictures. We head to Lao Cai town late in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner in a local restaurant before boarding the train back to Hanoi. Estimated arrival time is 5 or 6 AM the next morning. End of service

Tour prices get cheaper and cheaper as group size gets bigger and bigger. More people traveling together will reduce the prices

Staying in three starred hotels will reduce tour prices significantly, as accommodation accounts for a big share of total costs. We generally use hotels from three stars upwards.

Meals can be selected based on bread& breakfast; half board or full board. It is quite cheaper if you let us take care of your meals. However you can take a half board basis to experience the cuisine yourself.

The more sights you visit, the more tickets are bought and the more miles are run.

Selecting to travel in high seasons is generally 15-25% more expensive than in low seasons. However if you book a tour well in advance you will get rid of the risk
