For 6 days, you’ll experience the best of Luang Prabang. This journey will discover the wonders and culture of Laos in a fun, hands-on way that is perfect for children and parents. Your whole family will enjoy this enriching experience as you delve into the traditions of Laos. We start our journey in the spiritual centre of Laos, Luang Prabang, where we will cycle along the Nam Khan River to an elephant camp. We will ride on the back of one of these magnificent animals through the jungle to the refreshing waters of the Tad Sae waterfall. The next day, we will visit the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn more about the various ethnic groups who live in Laos. Our tour will be even more flavourful when we discover the secrets of Lao cuisine in a cooking tour at Tum Tum Cheng Restaurant. Visiting famous Pak Ou caves and famous Ban Xang Hai village - the major highlights of Luang Prabang - will be a wonderful experience for everyone. Finally, we'll go to the Heritage Information Centre to learn about the projects under way aimed at developing a sustainable approach for the conservation and preservation of Luang Prabang.

Day 1: Arrival in Laos - Luang Prabang

Pick-up from the airport and transfer to your hotel. After having lunch, your bikes will be awaiting for your trip along the Nam Khan River to the jungle-enclosed Elephant Camp. Your children will be very excited to ride on the back of one of these magnificent animals and travel through the woods to the breathtaking Tad Sae waterfall. On returning to Luang Prabang, your family will enjoy a traditional Baci ceremony in which the local people will offer you best wish and safe travels on your Laos adventure. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 2: Enjoy Luang Prabang & surrounds

Today, your family will go on a city tour to discover Luang Prabang city. We will start by visiting some of the town's most spectacular temples including Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Visoun. After having lunch at a famous restaurant in Luang Prabang with traditional Lao food, we will continue to the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre where you and your children can learn about the various ethnic groups and cultures living in Laos. As the day comes to a close, climb to the top of Mount Phousi for panoramic views of the city and wander amongst the stalls of the evening hill tribe market. It is a wonderful chance for your kids to buy some souvenirs. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 3: Enjoy Luang Prabang & surrounds

In the early morning, your family will see the daily procession of monks as they gather to collect alms from local residents. Then, fun hands-on activities wait to further your knowledge of Lao culture with a cooking class at Tum Tum Cheng Restaurant. Here, your family will be introduced to delicious Lao cuisine, followed by a visit to a textile centre where your children can try their hand at weaving, silk spinning, and dyeing. If you want, join the locals for a game of petanque before setting off on a sunset Mekong River cruise where dinner and a traditional performance await. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Kamu Lodge

After breakfast, travel up the Mekong River to the Pak Ou caves where thousands of Buddha statues fill the limestone grottoes. After that, continue up the river to Kamu Lodge - an eco-lodge set amongst a traditional Kamu village. Here, your family will have a  chance to join in various activities of the local people such as rice planting, jungle trekking, gold panning, and fishing with local techniques. It will be an unforgettable experience for your children.  Overnight at Kamu Lodge.

Day 5: Kamu Lodge - Luang Prabang

Spend the morning with free time to enjoy the surroundings of the Kamu Lodge with picturesque landscapes before returning downstream to Luang Prabang. On the way, we will stop at Ban Xang Hai village in which your family can see the villagers making traditional rice wine before cycling back to Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, your family will have a chance to make a difference in the local community when visiting the Big Brother Mouse shop to help distribute English and Lao language books to a poor village in the area. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Departures

Today, we will visit the Heritage Information Centre to learn about the projects underway aimed at developing a sustainable approach for the conservation and preservation of Luang Prabang, before being transferred to the airport for departure.

Tour prices get cheaper and cheaper as group size gets bigger and bigger. More people traveling together will reduce the prices

Staying in three starred hotels will reduce tour prices significantly, as accommodation accounts for a big share of total costs. We generally use hotels from three stars upwards.

Meals can be selected based on bread& breakfast; half board or full board. It is quite cheaper if you let us take care of your meals. However you can take a half board basis to experience the cuisine yourself.

The more sights you visit, the more tickets are bought and the more miles are run.

Selecting to travel in high seasons is generally 15-25% more expensive than in low seasons. However if you book a tour well in advance you will get rid of the risk
