Inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Halong, the King composed a poem which is carved on a stele on Truyen Dang mountain which was later renamed Nui Bai Tho or Poem Mountain.

From the top of Bai Tho Mountain, tourists will feel surprised at the picturesque landscape of Halong Bay. Seeing the background of immense emerald waters, of rock bobbing, of high sky, of surrounding beautiful flowers and trees, we can figure out the small images of boats.

Beneath Bai Tho Mountain, there is Long Tien Pagoda which was built in 1940 to worship the Buddha and generals in Tran Dynasty have contributed to the country. The pagoda owns unique architecture with a path leading up the mountain. At the foot of the mountain, near Doan Wharf, it also has a small temple built by boat owners who often trade through the Dong Hai Sea. The temple dedicated to Tran Quoc Nghien general - the eldest son of Tran Quoc Tuan. He has great success in the struggle against invaders of the Tran Dynasty; especially the Mongolian Yuan troops invaded the third time in 1288. By 1913 the temple was restored as we see today.
