Our Vietnam holiday with teenagers starts from the South of Vietnam. We enjoy a river boat cruise through densely connected networks of rivers and canals in the Mekong Delta, passing through colorful floating markets and orchards. Then we have a day visit to its key historic sites including the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and the fascinating Notre Dame Cathedral.  Heading to Hoi An, we visit the ancient town of colorful streets, communal houses and traditional lifestyles. In Hue, we spend some time to enrich our knowledge of the former capital of Vietnam, and enjoy a visit to a poor coastal high school where students learn lessons and carry out climate change adaptation activities. The capital city of Hanoi will enrich our experiences with its historic sites, busy shopping streets and cultural places. We take a cruise boat in the spectacular Halong Bay, where the Limestone Mountains and caves combine to make up one of the world’s most stunning landscapes. Finally we explore tribal life in Sapa, one of the key attractions in the remote North Vietnam, experience the hard life of minority ethnic groups in rocky and harsh climatic terraced rice fields. A short but memorable holiday to treat your teenagers/children before they join their school.

Day 1 : Australia to Ho Chi Minh City arrival (dinner)

Our tour guide and private car will pick you up from the airport, transfer to the hotel in central Saigon. Get briefed on the tour itinerary. Free and easy. Enjoy a buffet dinner on a cruise along the Saigon River. The cruise is a perfect way to view Saigon by night, a great exciting start to welcome teenagers!

Day 2 - 3: Mekong Delta Homestay (Breakfast, Lunch)

Today we will transfer in a private car to the town of Cai Be town (80 kms away) in the Mekong Delta to take a private river boat trip. This journey cruises through floating markets, rice fields, fruit plantations and so on along a densely connected network of rivers and canals. An absolutely amazing view of a totally flat, low-lying delta that seems to have no have no boundary will bring you an immense feeling of this region. In the evening, experience a homestay with a local family, a great way to appreciate family time! Taste different dishes cooked by the locals and locally grown ingredients. Get back to the city in the afternoon of the next day.

Day 4: Ho Chi Minh City tour (Breakfast, Lunch)

We have a day tour to explore this vibrant city, visiting its key historic sites including the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum and the fascinating Notre Dame Cathedral. In the afternoon, we spend some time in the Ben Thanh Market, the iconic symbol of Saigon, explore the central business districts for a great drink.

Get back to the hotel and collect heavy luggage, then get to the city airport for a flight to Da Nang. Get transferred to Hoi An. Free to explore the town at night.

Day 5: Hoi An (Breakfast, Lunch)

The ancient and historic town of Hoi An was for three centuries one of the most important ports in Central Vietnam, visited by sailing ships from all over the world seeking trade in silk, ceramics, spice etc. We have a day bicycle tour to visit rural villages that once provided services and goods to merchants in town. Get relaxed along the ever green, small lanes full of vegetables, flowers, water buffaloes. Have lunch with a farmer house. In the afternoon we have a walking tour to explore Hoi An, visiting Japanese covered bridge, Tan Ky Old hose, Phuc Kien Pagoda, Cham Museum and Chinese Assembly Hall. Free and easy in the evening.

Day 6: Hoi An –Hue by car (Breakfast, Lunch)

After breakfast, we check out early and take a three hour drive to another World Heritage site, Hue city.  Along the way our car passes by stunning coastal scenery and Lang Co beach. Check in hotel and have lunch.

In the afternoon, we start discovering key highlights of Hue: the Imperial City where the last 13 Vietnamese emperors lived and reined the country: Ngo Mon gate, the Forbidden Purple Palace, The Mieu Temple. Then we pass by rice field and beautiful green hills to reach the tomb of Khai Dinh emperor. A magnificent place that buried the king is seen as a symbol of glory luxury lifestyle.

Day 7: Hue–Hanoi  (Breakfast, lunch)  

In the morning, we will visit a school in Hue. The school will show you how Vietnam children are learning about disaster prevention, climate change awareness raising. Take the opportunities to interact with local children, show them what you think and do back home, or what they should do to help the environment. Teenagers will love sharing their opinion with little boys and girls! Plenty of opportunities are out there for teenagers to become an English teacher in Vietnam.

Have lunch before checking out, and heading to the airport for the flight to Hanoi . Transfer to the hotel and free and easy.

Day 8: Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch)

We drive to Ho Chi Minh complex, spend a couple of hours to visit Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, stilt-house residence, the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh museum.  We walk to the One Pillar Pagoda, the iconic Buddhist temple of Vietnam. We continue to the Temple of Literature originally built as a temple of Confucius. This is the site of the Vietnam first university dating back to 1070. The Temple highlights the importance of education. Have lunch in KOTO restaurant. In the afternoon, we visit the Museum of Ethnology, the most interesting museum in Vietnam, showing the diverse cultures of 54 ethnic groups in the country.

Day 9: Hanoi-Halong Bay (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

7.30-7.45AM a shared shuttle bus picks you up (you can leave heavy luggage in the hotel). Take a four hour drive to Halong Bay before boarding on our luxury cruise boat. We will cruise through remarkable limestone formations of Halong Bay. We have the opportunities to enjoy a swim, visits to stunningly beautiful grottoes and do some kayaking. We visit fishing villages and learn how children go to school and live on boats. Overnight on the cruise boat will be a memorable experience for your family.

Day 10: Halong Bay-Hanoi-Sapa by train (Breakfast, lunch)

In the morning, enjoy some guided Tai Chi exercise on the sundeck. We continue sightseeing and cruising around Halong Bay. A range of rock formations are on our way. Experience a day of sun, sea and sand. Have lunch on board before turning to the harbor and driving back to Hanoi. Collect our heavy luggage from the hotel, have your own dinner before we transfer you to the Tran Quy Cap Train Station at around 8.30PM to catch a train to Sapa.

Day 11: Sapa Ethnic Minorities (Breakfast, Lunch).

Transfer to the hotel for breakfast and possibly check in if your rooms are ready. We start to have a day private trekking tour to see Lao Chai and Ta Van villages, home to H’mong ethnic group. This is the best trekking route to explore highlights of ethnic tribal groups in Sapa. Enjoy the traditional lifestyles, scenery and landscape, and daily activities of the group.  Take stunning photos of suspension bridge, streams, terraced rice fields, buffaloes and so on. Enjoy a family photo to keep a sweet memory of this hilly land.

Day 12: Sapa - Hanoi (Breakfast, Dinner).

Have a half day free. Options can be a visit to the Chan May, Silver waterfall or Cat Cat Village. After lunch, we check out and get to Ta Phin, home to the Red Zao ethnic group who is very skilled at handicraft and herbal medicine. Experience a medical hot spa managed by the ethnic household. After sightseeing in Ta Phin village, in the afternoon around 6PM, we transfer you to Lao Cai City to catch the night train back to Hanoi.

Day 13: Train station to Hanoi hotel

At 5AM, our tour guide and private car will pick you up from the train station to the hotel for a free and easy day. Options can be for some shopping and exploring food and cuisine or enjoy the puppet show in the Old Quarter Area. In the evening, we will have a street food tour including drinking Beer Hoi in the Old Quarter to learn more about the cuisine culture. A heaps of local dishes and drinks which are unique and not available in Australia pubs and restaurants. Your teenagers will learn and appreciate the way to enjoy cuisine and lifestyle of Hanoians.

Day 14: Hanoi departure (Breakfast)

This morning, we will explore Hanoi in styles (hair, clothes, shoes all designed and made in style by young talented Vietnamese teenagers). They are all cheap but look fancy and trendy. Hanoi is the capital for famous fashion brands and your teenagers will love this special tour.

Out tour guide and private car will pick you up , heading to the Noi Bai airport for your flight to Singapore/Malaysia/Thailand, before taking your flight to Australia. End of service.
