Can Tho

Compared to other cities in the Mekong delta, to the West of Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho is the biggest one occupied by an estimated population of 1,6 million people so fa. The name is often referred to as Tay Do, meaning Western capital (the capital of a vast region to the West of Ho Chi Minh city).

The city has been famous for its floating markets, Ninh Kieu Quay, vast rice fields, Buddhist pagodas, delicious food, fresh fruits and the beauty of the Mekong girls. Can Tho has the largest girls who get married to foreigners, mostly Taiwanese and Koreans.

It lies on the south bank of the Hau River, the bigger branch of the Mekong River running through Vietnam. The City is almost at the centre of the Mekong region, and can be reached by air, road and boat.

When to Visit Can Tho.

Like other southern provinces, Can Tho has two distinct seasons of dry season from December to April and rainy season from May to November. The climate is warm all year round with the average temperature of 27 degree C and the annual average rainfall of about 1,635 mm and the average humidity of 83%.

In the dry season, the average temperature is 26-28 degree C and the highest sunshine hours are in Jan, Feb and March. In rainy season, the average temperature is 26-27 degree C. Rainy days mostly concentrate in December and October. The last month of the season causes widespread flooding due to the large rainfall and poring upstream flood.

The best time to Visit Can Tho is as same as most other destination in the South is from December and Feb because there is a little rain and the humidity is at the lowest rate.

In March and April, the weather tends to be the hottest time in year; even during the monsoon months, it rarely rains for weeks.

June, July and August can be seen the most humid and rainy months compared with the rest time of the year. In addition, it is also time of typhoon season.

As a Vietnam Travel Agency, Red Crane Travel offers Vietnam family holidays which include short excursions to Can Tho City. After a day cruise in Cai Be Town, we will head straight away to the Can Tho, about 50km away.
